An Apostrophe is a direct address to the deads to the absent or to a personified object or idea.

Examples

1. Twinkle, twinkle, little star, how I wonder what you are.

2. O holy night! ...

3. Then come, sweet death, and rid me of this grief. 

4. O, pardon me, thou bleeding piece of earth. 

5. Roll on, thou deep and dark blue Ocean – roll!
